Up to $10,000 in Solar Hot Water Rebate Program

The Minnesota Office of Energy Security (OES) offers rebates for residential and multi-family residential solar hot water heaters installed on the property of state residents. The rebates are available at different levels for both new systems and for repairs of inoperable systems. Systems that combine solar space heating with solar water heating are eligible for the program, but only the portion of the system devoted to solar water heating is eligible for a rebate. The limitations set on each category of rebate are: Single family: lesser of 25% of system cost or $2,500 for new systems, 50% or $1,000 for system repairs; Multi-family 2-3 units: lesser of 25% of system cost or $4,000 for new systems, 50% or $2,000 for system repairs; and Multi-family 4+ units: lesser of 25% of system cost or $10,000 for new systems, 50% or $3,000 for system repairs.
