24-Hour Crisis Hotline

Help Line, New York is a telephone crisis hotline that provides an immediate response to people in the New York Metropolitan area. The service is staffed by trained volunteers (lawyers, students, teachers, retirees, homemakers, and bankers) who go through a rigorous training course to develop and refine their listening skills in order to assist callers in defining and exploring various options to crises they may be experiencing. The hotline is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is non-sectarian, anonymous and free. In addition to empathic listening, the hotline maintains an extensive database of information and referral sources for its callers.
